So,…this happened.

So,…this happened.

These are my friends

“Yesterday, we had a had a wine tasting at St. John’s.  The vineyard representative was late, so the steward went down to the cellars and brought up a number of bottles to keep us entertained until she got there.  So we had all had two glasses by the time the actual tasting started.  Each ‘sample’ was basically a full glass, and there were seven wines featured (none from Connecticut, unfortunately).  I should mention that this was before dinner.  I took copious notes, which, in retrospect, get progressively less coherent.  Towards the end, I started writing “Focus?” in various places.  Afterward, we all went to get cheap Chinese takeout, which we consumed on the pool table in the grad student combination room.  I got into an argument with some guy about whether it was acceptable to put suet in Christmas pudding.  He claimed that conceptually it is no different than butter.  I argued that as the savory equivalent of butter, it had no business in a dessert.  I’m not sure how it ended.  Looking forward to next week’s wine tasting.”
